Taking the Grand Gospel to the Grand Valley and Beyond

Church Planting in the Valley

  • When we say "church planting" we mean "telling His story!"  You see ... it's ALL about Jesus!  Planting new churches is bringing the spiritually needy into relationship with the life changing, life saving power of Jesus!

  • Starting new churches is an essential part of reaching hurting people with the transforming power of God's Word!  It is a fact that new churches reach the spiritually needy at a more rapid rate than more mature churches!  So... when we say "church planting" we mean reaching others with the powerful, life changing Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ.  It is that simple!

  • 'Churches starting new churches' is a part of God's plan for reaching all kinds of spiritually needy people in His world - all over His world!  It isn't an accident that in the New Testament story, Paul "told His story" and God planted new churches everywhere Paul went (check out the book of Acts).  Intentionality in evangelism resulting in church starting/planting is the key to bringing more and more people into relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Churches that refuse to reproduce have historically become introverted and are simply not reaching their maximum potential in carrying out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19 & 20).  In the New Testament the persecution of Believers resulted in the dispersion of these Believers which led to the beginning of a new work at Antioch.  The church at Antioch obeyed the Holy Spirit and intentionally sent out Paul and Barnabas.  The rest is history and you can read about it in the book of Acts.

Catalytic Church Planters

Lee Price - New Castle
lprice@riverchurches.org

Lee and Jana Price felt the call of God to starting new churches after 12 years in fruitful work in 3 separate churches with youth.  The Prices moved to New Castle in August '05 with a passion to reach spiritually needy people with the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Lee and Jana began a new church in January of 2006 and called that church RiverChurches.  That church grew rapidly and multiplied in December of 2006 after reaching an attendance of 50+ people.  Lee recently reported that additional leadership has been trained and another multiplication of some of RiverChurches house churches is near.  RiverChurches is a network of house churches reaching into this rapidly growing area of Colorado.  RiverChurches is developing a ministry center in New Castle to meet a wide range of needs in the community.  Lee and Jana are working in cooperation with Mid-Valley Church in Carbondale, the Grand Valley Baptist Association, High Country Baptist Association and the Colorado Baptist General Convention.  Check out their web site at

Eric Vaughan - Silt

Eric and Carol Vaughan served 3 years in Moscow with the IMB.  Eric has a passion for reaching people for Jesus.  Eric believes the Lord wants a strong, vibrant, growing, Bible teaching/preaching, missional church to be established in Silt.  This great couple has invested most of 2007 and 2008 in developing two house churches in Battlement Mesa.  Eric works full time in a family construction business, but his passion is reaching people for Jesus.

Colton Walter - Round Pen Cowboy Church / Cowboy Church Planter

RoundPenCowboy@cs.com

The first time I met Colton I was impressed with his smile, his love of horses and his desire to see lost horse lovers come to faith in Christ.  After watching this talented young man using his skill by taking an untamed horse and within an hour or two turning this wild animal into a useful and productive one, I am additionally impressed at his God given ability with horses.  Colton Walter tells the story of God at work in the life of an "untamed" and unsaved human and compares God's work in human lives to Colton's work with the wild horse.  Colton, Roslyn and their five children are active members at Mesa View Bible Church in Mesa, CO.  This family is highly committed to using their giftedness, this unique ministry and their love for horses to bring spiritually needy people to faith in Jesus!  Pray for the Round Pen Cowboy Church meeting weekly in the Fruita area.

Amani Bullock - Multi-cultural Church Planter

Amani and Tiawana Bullock prayed diligently concerning God's call to church planting.  Specifically God impressed upon them that Colorado was the location where He desired them to start a new church.  In September of 2008 the Bullocks moved here from Marin City, CA.  They began building relationships with multi-cultural families.  In January they began a Bible study in the Riverside area of Grand Junction.  The Bible study has grown, people have come to faith in Christ, some have been baptized and others have found a "home" at Familyroom Fellowship.  On Easter Sunday 52 people came to the first Sunday morning worship service.  Amani was ordained to the Gospel ministry by Monument Baptist Church (sponsoring church) in late May.  July 5th 2009 Familyroom Fellowship will begin meeting regularly on Sunday mornings for worship.  Pray for Amani and Tiawana as they serve the Father in Grand Junction among African-Americans and the english speaking Hispanic population!

Jesus said to His disciples,

"What a huge harvest!  And how few the harvest hands.  So on your knees; ask the God of the Harvest to send harvest hands."
